1. Who is responsible for your data?

SmartStreet is operated by an individual based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK GDPR, that operator is the data controller.

2. What data we collect

We only collect data that's necessary to provide the service.

a. Account data (only if you sign in)

If you create an account:

You can browse the app and analyse areas without creating an account. Account data is only collected if you choose to sign in.

b. Saved areas (only if you save)

When you tap Save on an area:

This list is tied to your account so you can see it on any device you sign in with.

d. Logs

Our backend records standard request logs (timestamp, route, response code, anonymised IP truncated to network level) for security monitoring and abuse prevention. These are kept for 30 days, then deleted automatically.

We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or advertising.

4. Where your data is stored

All data is stored in the United Kingdom and European Economic Area on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the eu-west-2 (London) region.

Our authentication provider (AWS Cognito) operates the same region. We do not transfer your personal data outside the UK / EEA.

5. Who can see your data

We do not share your personal data with advertisers, marketing partners, data brokers, or anyone else, except where legally required (e.g. a valid court order).

6. Third-party data sources we use

To compute area scores, our server (not your device) fetches data from these UK public sources:

These sources receive only the postcode you queried — no email, no account ID, no IP from your device. Scoring is per-postcode, not per-user.

7. Cookies, trackers, and analytics

SmartStreet's iOS app does not use:

If we add basic analytics in future (e.g. anonymous usage counts), this policy will be updated before that change goes live.

8. Your rights under UK GDPR

When you delete your account, all your personal data is removed within 30 days from primary storage and within 90 days from backup snapshots.

10. Children

SmartStreet is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.

11. Security

No system is 100% secure. If a breach occurs that affects your data, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by UK GDPR.

12. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle your data, we will: update this policy with a new "Last updated" date, show you a notice in the app on next launch, and where required by law, ask for your consent before the change takes effect.
